Illuminate…Formerly known as CBS (College Bible Study)
One big change this fall will be the new mid-week service for college students…Illuminate. This spring we decided to merge our mid-week service (formerly CBS) w/ the BCM’s (Baptist Campus Ministry) mid-week service (formerly Encounter). So beginning Tuesday, 8/30 we’ll kickoff our combined meeting which is called, Illuminate. Each Tuesday at 7pm we’ll gather in FSU’s Moore Auditorium (in the Student Union) for an encouraging & challenging time of live music, influential teaching, & most weeks we’ll even have some free food. This fall we’ll be covering relationships in our series “What’s your status?”
One of the main reasons that we combined our mid-week w/ the BCM, & moved it to Tuesday nights was to help flesh out our new mission for students, which is to: worship, study, serve, party, & give. By combining our forces we’ll have a larger number of students to gather & encourage one another in worshipping our great God & studying His word. By moving to Tuesday nights we’ve freed up Wednesday nights which provide multiple opportunities to serve at First Baptist: Youth Ministry/Youth Choir, Children’s/Preschool Ministry, Sanctuary Choir/Orchestra, etc. And another strategic objective in beginning this new mid-week meeting is location, location, location. Even though FBC is only 3.5 blocks from FSU’s campus, now we will be holding our meeting on the campus of FSU & in a prime location on students’ turf.
We hope that students from all the campuses represented in Tallahassee will join us on Tuesday nights. Nobody is checking school id’s at the door & there is plenty of parking available for non-FSU students beginning at 4:30pm everyday at FSU. So begin to make plans to join us for this new endeavor as we look to engage students at Illuminate: where reality comes to light.
