the BIG deal about getting SMALL

You are more than 1 in 80,000! 80,000 (give or take a few hundred) is the number of college students in Tallahassee, & for most of you when it comes to school you are just one digit in that large number. Whether it is the number of your dorm room, “the last four of your social”, the number on the front/back of your jersey, or the seat you play in the orchestra… you are more than a number.

In the sea of students that make up Tallahassee we’ve come to recognize the importance of getting small. Even the Math, Science, & Communication departments know this… hence the reason you pay for 1-2 hours to take a lab (another genius idea of colleges & universities to have you pay for a study group… brilliant!). So we are starting 2 new small group experiences.

Part of the heartbeat of The Basement is to provide multiple opportunities for you to grow in your faith, & beginning the week after Super Bowl Sunday, we will be offering 2 new small groups, one for girls & one for guys. Both groups will be focused around the concept of living out a cross-centered life. Amazingly we have found a book that, along w/ the Bible, will be used during these times of scripture study & discussion. The book, coincidentally enough, is titled “Living the Cross Centered Life” by C.J. Mahaney.

These groups will be meeting during the week, they will be led by students, & our goal is that they will meet in homes/apartments close to campus. Our hope is that these groups will help foster the beginnings of authentic community. We are also praying that these groups would be places that our students could invite their friends to… possibly creating a first step, connecting them to our church.
