Who We Are

The Basement is the college ministry of First Baptist Church, Tallahassee. FBC has had a long standing tradition of serving college students for 80+ years. Some of us are from right here in Tallahassee and others are from as far away as Africa. Together we are trying to live out (and some of us figure out) what following Jesus looks like as a student. We are committed to each other. Committed to encourage and challenge each other to be: God-centered, Bible-directed, and people-focused during this unique time in our lives.

College Minister Zach Allen is originally from Oviedo FL, and moved to Tallahassee in 1997 to intern at FBC and finish college. While finishing his degree in Political Science and Communication he married Shelley in 2001. After graduation in 2002, they left Tallahassee for Southeastern Baptist Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. Prior to returning to FBC, Zach served as Associate Pastor of Students and Education at North Central Baptist Church in Gainesville, FL. Shelley and Zach have been married now for 10 years and have three children: Jackson, Walker and Caroline.
